In 2012, Mr. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (Château Angélus) with Mr. Philippe Nunes, the technical director of his Lalande de Pomerol vineyard, La Fleur de Boüard, started a new project. They acquired with friends a 6.6 hectare estate, on a clay and chalky plateau of Saint Sulplice and Cameyrac, as well as on the gravelly clays of Montussan, a perfect terroir for the culture of Merlot. The vines overhang a small river, La Laurence, from which it took his name. These two experts apply their experience to reveal the best expression from this Merlot and to produce an average of 12,000 bottles of Château Laurence per year. Like the great growths of Bordeaux, the cellar benefits from stainless steel temperature controlled vats and the wines are aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. This joint work is a success awarded by flattering comments from the most famous wine critics. Produced from 100% Merlot, this wine has a complex nose of black fruits and morello cherries with notes of spices. In the mouth the wine is medium bodied with a smooth creamy texture balanced perfectly with ripe round tannins and a harmonious freshness.Located close to the communes of Saint Emilion & Pomerol, Chateau La Croix de Roche is a certified organic & Biodynamic wine, renowned for producing outstanding value wines and regarded by Robert Parker as one of hfavoriteite lower priced wines.
Produced from 60% Merlot, 15% Carmenere, 15% Petit Verdot & 10% Malbec, the low yield crops are vinified separately per block in temperature controlled vats, before being selected for blending, aging takes place with 90% in tank and the other 10% in new oak barrels.
Soft fruity with lots of cherry and plumb fruits, in the mouth silky and soft with fine tannins and a very nice freshness. To be enjoyed now or over the next 3 years.
